I have the ACT 6 puc clutch and pressure plate in my RB25 ,I have just got the car back and the car shudders when releasing the clutch,Not all the time but ever so often ,
Is this normal ???????????
I cant wait till monday to know as i am driving the car over the weekend to enjoy it ,Damn workshops who close over weekends
Anybody !!!!!!!!!!
a sprung centered clutch will absorb most of the vibrations (shudders), and make it easier on the driver to smoothly engage the clutch.
a solid center will be far less forgiving and will transmit vibrations through the pedal, at least until the driver gets more used to the feel of the clutch. the solid centered clutch will also "bite" far more aggressively, making it feel more responsive and far "stronger" than a sprung centered clutch.
When broken in right they smooth as silk on engaugement, very similar to stock clutch weight and feel, its just a reduced distance between in and out, most people would not even notice.
When you dont break it in right it will shudder slightly which is only noticable on pull away (makes it feel like local puc clutches)
If you whore the car when your supposed to be breaking it in you can plan on replacing the flywheel and presure plate within 10 000km's.
yep the shuder does happen when new , had a button clutch on my rb25t built buy ferobrake, and it was a night mare in trafic, was only supposed to be a trackday car but surcumstances made it a daily nightmare, but if you drive it in properly it will be good ,ant say it will be as smooth as a std clutch but then again i had a double diaphram.re- inforced for max bite so havin the best of bothworlds is a give and take most of the time it takes and takes hehehehehe
