WANTED: Opel Corsa bakkie

The reason no one else uses the 2lt 8v in a Corsa is because it wont be "that" much faster. But again I am not wanting to race it, I just want a bit more power over the stock 1.4 or 1.6. I have my SX to go fast in, this will be my daily and will use it for dumping stuff from around the house.

I would love to have C20XE motor in it but that is not a simple drop in and It will be too powerfull for a light FWD car. The C20LET is stupid in these bakkies, they were stupid in the TS, torque steer all over the road and it still wasnt fast. I love the engines just not what they were fitted to.

Point taken, But even the 2l 8v will present itself overpowered... the g1 is just not a good frame to start off with. you'll still get torque steel and it wont go anywhere.

You misunderstood my point completely, rather than suggesting an alternative mod, i was merely pointing out that if you ad up the time, hassle and money you'll be putting into the project bearing in mind the PURPOSE.....Is it really worth it?

You'd be better of spending the same money on a well kept 1600...

Sometimes its about the joy of actually working on the project and knowing that the end result is something you put your own time and money into and knowing you did it right...

Oh OK, yeah I missed that point . I have driven the 1600 and they are real sluggish on the freeways, this is where the 2lt will shine for me. Also when I load it with sand, bricks, trees etc it will alot nicer to drive with that added power. The 1600 is just FLAT.

To fit the 2lt 8v isnt that much of a major job hey, 1 day and the motor is in sorted, then 1 day to wire and tune, easy stuff.

Have you driven a diesel Corsa, they are worse than the 1400 petrol...

I think even gary would agree with me that a project car is no small amount of work and the end result is always in mind!

I have no doubt that gary will put that motor in a corsa1 bakkie, I have no doubt that he'll do an excellent job, and i have no doubt if it was more than a run around car he would have explored much more powerful avenues.

But gary makes it very clear that this car would be used for no more than a delivery vehicle, and for that purpose alone i don't believe the effort is just.

Na this will be my daily drive so it needs to have some go aswell as being able to take my dogs to the beach and putting the odd RB25 in the back .

Yeah but as you said not many people do this mod and I dont want a C20LET motor powered one. Also when you buy someone elses modification you never know what short cuts they took or how it was treated or driven.

The end result is the only reason to do a mod, trust me I would far rather watch F1 than doing an engine transplant, especially when thing dont work out as planned.

Fuel consuption will depend only on how you drive it. Remember these motor were in production cars so they must of had a decent fuel consumption back then.

I would prefer a RB over the VG purely because of parts that are available for it. Also 1 turbo is cheaper than 2, etc. But the VG is shorter so you could sit it further back in the engine bay and get a better weight distribution.

I suppose they are much of a muchness...
