my CA18det is RETARDED
my CA18det is RETARDED!!!
bruno had a little argument about which way the cam angle sensor has to be turned to advance/retard the timing of the ca18det.
in the end i tend to believe what he says, but i want to hear from other technically minded people too.
i am 100% sure that i got the timing marks on the crank pulley right. they read in a clockwise orientation from -5 to 20 degrees in 5 degree increments. is that right???
then when setting the timing, if i need to advance the timing do i turn the CAS clockwise, or do i turn the CAS anti-clockwise???
i want to cure my ca18det of its "possible" RETARDEDNESSISM!!!

ye, never work on the bolts, Mine was correctly installed (there is only one way except if the "halfmaan" on the shaft has broken off.) and I could get it to 15deg, mine was around 20deg with the CAS fully to one side. I just replaced the CAS and it was perfect. They say the disk/plate inside the CAS comes loose and moves.

ok thanks for the info people
i have just checked my timing with a timing light during lunchbreak
now, how do you get the timing light's cables out after they wound themselves around the waterpump axle and into the waterpump bearing?
also, does anyone have a fan for me with all the blades intact?
and some band-aids please
is it retarded now?
