i dont think gasket paper will work very well in the heat of the manifolds in the *virginity* of the turbo.

i also use gasket paper, but for applications with less heat!

now that you mention it... we obviously have to make shure its high temprature paper... but I see when I take mine off I definitely cant use it again... its never leaked on me, but maybe it is better to buy a set than have to replace it every 5k kms

Don't think you get high temperature gasket paper... well not that will withstand the heat of the manifold...

Ummm there is a thread somewhere on the forum where I posted how the quality gaskets look like, those work cool, i normally give it a very thin layer of gasket maker this will obviously melt in giving a nice seal.

that "might" work for the manifold... but not between the turbo and manifold... only a metal gasket will last there...

I have used gum gum between the turbo and manifold, but was advised by Rezlo not to do it since excess might break off and damage the compressor wheel. Which makes sense.

thats why the turbo in my car wasnt working when i bought it. the owner had used excessive amounts of gun gum, which had broken off inside the manifolds and got jammed between the turbo blades and the exhaust housing.

once out of there - the motor ran ok for a little while!!!

but its the reason i got a bargain 200sx, instead of the normally priced one!!!

Just an update.
After pulling the manifold with turbo attached, I found that the manifold was cracked. (In between turbo & manifold).
I was glad that the job I did before on the gaskets, must of been pretty good, because instead of popping a gasket the manifold broke....Damn I'm good. :)

Anyway, I spoke to phinx, you might have one for me. So let'shope all is good.

I must say, the help I got from Freddie, Charl & now Phinx is truly f*cken awesome. Charl went out of his way to drop off gaskets for me. freddie phoned & was willing to help me pull out the turbo, & still phoned me to make sure I came right with the manifold. Phinx is bringng the damn thing to work for me too see, & almost giving it to me.

I'm so glad that Toby took his passion for the SX further then your average person. The people I have came across, are the most friendliest ever. It's actually strange to witness this level of generosity & humility. So thanks again guys. I will put an article together as I have taken pics of the whole process...I'm out.

well done to all involved, i like to see this kind of help, and this kind of thanks too!!!
