AARRGGHHHH!!!
You won't believe this. Exactly a year ago I replaced the turbo & manifold gaskets, & this weekend I heard a strange blowing sound, only to find out that the bolts around the turbo & exhaust manifold are all loose.
This is a job I hate. I have done it once on this car & about three times on my previous SX. I also don't have time to work on the car during the week, so I probably need to send it in somewhere.

Can anybody recommend a good place here in randburg. Is the calibrator in this area & how much will he charge?

Also, should I use the same gaskets from Nissan or get something else.
AARRGGHH. this is the only problem on an SX that frieken haunts me.

Yip Calibrator is in Randburg....

You must use Copper nuts on the manifold housing otherwise they will come loose... some people even double nut them where possible.

I've got the manifold gaskets for u. I got them with the payen gasket set. I'm shure vlade will agree these will do just fine for a standard setup like yours. I'll give them to you, for a small fee :roll: I'm using double steel face ceramic ones

hte copper nuts that vlade is referring to have a little cut (slit) halfway through the top of them.

the little bit left is bent slightly down, and this is the bit that "locks" against the thread of the stud.

they shouldn't vibrate loose, and are able to withstand the heat!

should be available at any nuts and bolts place!

I guess this is the reason why I'm part of this club......awesome.

@Charl
Okay, PM me of how much you want for the gaskets.
I really just need the one between turbo & manifold.

@Freddie
Thanks guy, it's much appreciated let me know when is good for you then I can make arrangments.

@Vlade
I used only copper nuts, but after awhile they come loose. I know on the manifold (between turbo & manifold) Nissan supply this little metal plates that lock the bolts.
However there isn't a plate that locks the bolts on the manifold (from cylinder head to manifold)

Thanks guys for the help.

Since we are going to betaking the manifold out completely, I'll take the gaskets from Charl which is manifold/cylinder head & I will go & buy the other gasket (turbo & manifold from Nissan) including those locking plates.

Here's another thing, when I got my turbo back the oil feed bolt is very close to the manifold bolt, meaning that I don't see how we can take it out as they touch eachother.
I'll post a pic later, so that you understand.
I was told however that we can twist & turn thr turbo as it's only circlips that hold the thing together...is dis true?

We take the oil feed pipe off from the side of the engine block and remove in total from the engin. So oil feed pipe comes out with turbo. Dont know if we miss each other here? I cant see a problem with that.

Sorry forlate response.
You are right freddie, but where the oil feed goes on top of the turbo, that bolt is blocking the other bolt that goes into the manifold.
I don't have the car here, bt I'll ask mummy dearest to take some pics & email it to me.

HHHHmmmm" Mummy can you please take pics of the turbo & manifold, at the join".....Hope she knows what I'm saying.

nuren. just a suggestion, before going to nissan, see if u can source the gasket set from autozone. the really impresessed me when I went there for my parts. ask for payen, the stuff is very good! get this, they even have the 200sx on their database. and I don't think they can up the price if u say 200sx. otherwise you can maybe make your own gasket for the turbo, I just don't know what the stock turbo gaskets look like, I make my own turbo gaskets. u get the paper from a spares shop...
