Hydraulic clutch and Gearbox problem

Post by Speed breeder »

Almost everything done on my car... now I see the hydraulic system has a problem. Have bled the system, but can't seem to get the air out.
Sounds like a seal has gone, but I don't know.

It is now at the point where fluid doesn't even come out of the bleeder.
There are also no visible leaks on any of the lines

The clutch pedal does not return on its own

Has anyone had this problem before?

Couple of questions
What is the bleeding order? Master cylinder, then the extra bleeder on the clutch connector, then the operating cylinder?
Does anyone have extra parts lying around?

The next issue, after draining and refilling the gearbox, I seem to have a leak on the gasket where the spickot is in the gbox.

Can I only find these gaskets at the agents?

Hey mr V,

Where do I find this? Is that not the bleeder on the clutch connector under the car (funny square)?

At this point I don't even get fuild from the master cylinder bleeder...

you must pour fluid into the master cylinder!!!

have you checked your footwell in the car??? is all the fluid inside the car?

cos basically it has to go somewhere!

yes the bleeder for the loop is under the chassis - a square distribution block.

lol. its good I still have a sense of humour left.

There is fluid in the master cylinder, but it does not seem to be moving.

When I first started bleeding the system got fluid, and got less the more we bled until it finally just stopped. Topped up the reservoir throughout the process.

Should the pedal come up on its own?

Resolved the issue.

Very strange.

Problem was that the operating cylinder did not move and no hydraulic fluid came out of any of the bleeders.

Removed master cylinder, distribution block and operating cylinder.
Cleaned whole system
Decided to remove the distribution block entirely as well
Nothing seemed to be wrong with the seals, but still did not operate after fitting and bleeding.

Bought kits from MIDAS for operating and master cylinder - part numbers to be posted - R62.00 for everything including new pistons and seals.

"Honed" cylinder walls with 2000 sanding paper

Replaced all pistons and seals

Bled system again.

Exactly the same problem happened to me today. Everytime I try to bleed the system only air came out. So I took out that distribution block and it worked perfect. 4Hrs work. Tired now. Eish.

Also fitted a hardbody master cylinder. Now to tackle the gearbox seals.

I paid R200 for it. I dont think its the original one. Its an autoquip part.

The Hardbody master cyclinder doesnt have the bleed nipple on the cylinder and it is a side feed.

That distribution block and loop had me for hrs.

Do you know whats the point of it?
