twin charge it then - supercharge AND turbocharge.

naah, you put one small one and one BIG one - let the small one spool up fast, then use it to spool the BIG one

viola!

this isn't need for speed carbon... shit doesn't happen automagically here.

If it's so 'easy' why doesn't everyone do it? / no one done it?

You guys crack me up, all your suggestions rock :D

Dislex666: If I could just spool that big bastard then I would be smiling all the way to an early grave :D

<a href="http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobyga ... _15.htm">I think this would do the trick</a>

Not too sure about the R9000 price tag though, maybe I should just wait a few months and save up :D

i'd get the .84 AR if you want it's legs to last tho... but that will be lagier than .64 :)

if you aren't sure about the 9k price tag, then just stay away. Keep your car stock...

if you want to use that turbo on a CA18 reliably, you gonna need headwork + cams + valvesprings + forged internals.

So you need about 40k i would reckon... fok, headwork + cams + valvesprings you already looking at least 20k.

would like the turbo to spool at around 3000rpm, be pulling hard at around 4000rpm and only run out of puff at around 8000rpm or after if possible.
I wont matter what size turbo you fit there without head and cam work its going nowhere near 8000 rpm.

Have you thought about the intended use of this vehicle? If its a daily driver I suggest you start thinking a bit more conservatively because while you are waiting for the boost to arrive stock S13's will be pulling away and when the boost comes in you will be having so much fun keeping it in a straight line they will still be pulling away.
If the road is long enough you may catch them in 4th or so.
Plus you will wear out your synchros from all the gearchanging so you can overtake busses.

Heheh nice one Calibrator! Thanks for explaining that - I knew there would have to be a tradeoff for getting big power from a small engine.

Calibrator: Thank you for the well thought out reply, you make a lot of valid points well worth considering.

Dislex666: Thanks meneer, I am well aware that the motor will have to be built from the bottom up, as well as the hefty cost associated with such a build.

I am not about to make any rash decisions right now, just trying to gather as much info as possible so that when time comes I have my ducks in row so to speak.

you ever consider going against the norm, and doing a highish compression low boost setup???

i wouldn't do that on a small capacity engine...

it will work yes - but i think you'll get more power with more boost (summing you can't do on higher comp)

I know some people have gone from 8.5:1 to 9:1 with very good results. But dunno so much about higher than that.

Having said that - I know there's a bolt on kit for the E46 M3 that takes it up to crazy power - like 600+whp. Without dropping compression, i think it runs summing like 6-7 psi.

So it is possible... but not summing that i'd pay someone to do - if i was more mech inclined i'd prolly hack it myself on like a test basis.

Unfortunately you don't really wanna gamble with a 40k+ build

there's a little high compression/low boost faction out there online somewhere... but i lost that damn info a few years back...

made for very interesting reading.

but you're right - who wants to risk, but then on the other hand - some people who take calculated risks get beeg dividends!!!

that m3 thingy sounds flippin awesome!
