I am making an aluminum turbo intake pipe, CNC bent etc. I want to know what intake size to use. I figure that you should use the same size piping as the intake throat on the turbo... what you think??
Usually 57mm is good for up to 2 bar boost. You will need to check the size on everthing else and get some silicon hosing to match it up to the other components.

are you talking about the pipe from the airfilter to the turbo?
I got this funky stuff from the calibrator - sorta checks like ducting apparently it's dual layer etc etc etc and 4" in diameter (my compressor side is 4" into the turbo )
The blue piping is the one you talking about. You can go wild on this side of things. The red pipeing on the other hand is a clalculated size, too big and you get too much turbo lag, too small and you strain the turbo a bit. Like I said 57mm is fine for up to 2 bar boost on 4 cylinder turbo motors.

Gary, explain to me why you want to do this? Phinx also mentioned this intake pipe falling flat during operation. Is that really the situation and if so, how do you see that happening when? Is the spring inside that pipe useless or what??
that intake pipe is hugely restrictive!! when i changed mine to stainless it gave 0.1 bar extra boost and i bet a damn side lower air temps!! i am also getting rid of the MAF so the air filter wont sit very nicely.
