Hi, I run a dicktator on my CA18det. Initially blew piston number 4 twice. Had to install a modified inlet manufold and had the car tuned by Ross. Since then it runs like a dream at 1.1 boost producing 200KW on the wheels.

I am running a Dictator in my Girfriends Toyota MR2 (3sgte motor)

No problems what so eva, pushing 140kw on the wheels and that @ 0.4bar boost.

I honestly think that the management system is only as good as the tunner tuning the car. An ecu can only do what you tell it to do. So if its not right it wasn't tuned right.

Correct Stephan, rather buy a R2000 system that everyone knows how to tune than buy a R10 000 and you cant get anyone to tune it.

Im also looking at dictator for when i go for RB25, i think the thing is to get someone that can tune it properly. Just wondering seeing that this is a stand alone ,does one still need your old ECU for the rest of the cars functions like abs and so on??

the engine has its own harness which is connected to the ECU.

the ABS has its own computer, in the driver side B pillar.

and the rest of the cars functions are controlled by wires, relays, switches, etc. the engine ECU also has a function that turns off the aircon at full throttle.

but other than these things, it should be alright to just yank everything to do with the engine out.

i'm going to do that soon!

The biggest issue I'm having with stand alone is the aircon, but other than that the ECU runs just the engine stuff, all other stuff like ABS / DIFF Cooler and what not runs of there own circuitry.

You will trust a R2000 ECU to run a R20 000 modification?? Average EMS will cost about R10 000, what makes you think that a R2000 can do the same??

Dicktator uses interpolation (as does every EMS) to get the load sites between the cells filled in by the tuner, 5 load sites between 100% vacuum and 1 Bar (or even 1.5Bar) is definately not enough.

It could be, but you should be able to wire it up without going through the ECU.
