Elecktric Fans?

Post by Charlvdw »

Hi all

Any suggestion on how many fans and what sizes i should fit and do i need to install a temp.sensor to activate them or can i pick that up elsewhere?

I saw some picks with elecktric fans installed and couldnt believe the space you gain with that.

If you want to go this route I suggest using 2x12" fans(fills the rad nicely)

You will need a temp switch and relay if you are running a stock setup.

Thanx Ero
Another thing, will the two fans be sufficient for the aircon asswell and do they work together or one for temp and one for aircon?

that depends on how you wire them up, but it would be a good idea to wire them so that they turn on when the aircon is on.

I think turning both on would be a beter bet.

If you use 2 fans you should run the switch to a 30amp relay....the fans draw around 15 amps.....together

well i actually tested this with n1smo the other day, and although derek is correct, the amps drawn drop until they reach about 7-9 amps.

so the fans we tested peaked at 15 amps initially, they settled over about 1 minute of testing to around 7-9 amps.

we couldn't understand why the fuse they wired in kept melting until we tested it and then installed a 20 amp fuse!

the 2X12" fans fit nicely on our radiators.
and you should definintely splice into the aircon switch somehow because you'll have to have at least one fan come on when the aircon is switched on.

other than that its fairly simple, and it works well.
