ok i've done lots of reading!

it seems that there are pros and cons of both types of hoses.

the best for normal road use, and occasional track use, is the normal rubber hoses. they are far more durable, last for many tens of thousands of km's, and any perishing or tearing, etc, can easily be spotted.

the braided hoses are good because they will not expand under pressure, and therefore contribute to pedal feel and braking performance. on a race vehicle, which will make brake hoses much hotter than a normal road vehicle, the teflon inner and steel braided hose will not flex like the rubber pipe will. but they are much more susceptable to damage. the braid is there to protect the tefol inner hose against damage from trauma from knocks and hits from stones, bumps, etc.

so unless your car is almost solely dedicated to track usage, and you are willing to replace the lines more often than is normal, i would say go with the rubber hoses.
