D1 spec oil catch tank fitting (CA18DET)
Hi Guys
I need a little help, I've done a lot of research on this topic and have found a whole bunch of answers that left me worse off than when I started
My Tappet cover is sweating the black sludge of death and so is some of my boost pipes going into the intercooler. So before I fit my FMIC I'm fitting and oil catch tank so the engine has a closed looped breathing cycle to prevent/decrease sludge build up.
This is the catch tank
This is my layout
This is how I had it fitted according to a diagram I found
http://www.topscreative.co.za/nello/how_I_had_it.jpg
Do I need to block of the PCV ?
http://www.topscreative.co.za/nello/pcv.jpg
My Exhaust outlet is a "L" shape, one goes the the air intake (behind AFM)

I just want to set this thing up so the engine can breath properly and the sludge is not going into any of my pipes but to the tank instead...
Please feel free to post photos of your setup or MS Paint/Photoshop over my engine diagram !

Thanks for the reply
Hahahah "Hose pipe" I know it's dodge will be replacing the stock supplied pipe with some new one's mid week.
So I just leave it as is, only remove the blue pipe ? plug it off at the induction and plug the catch tank pipe to where the blue on was on the exhaust outlet...

Re: D1 spec oil catch tank fitting (CA18DET)
when motor gets old rings wear out causing blow by
that pushes oil out of breather
stock setup motor burns the oil as it is sucked back into the intake

Re: D1 spec oil catch tank fitting (CA18DET)
But with that setup there is still a breather attached to the intake manifold throwing oil into the intake in anycase? When i connected a catch tank to my friends Almera Turbo conversion i made both the breathers off the tappet cover go straight into the oil catch tank, and the nipples on the intake i blocked off completely, so the fumes and oil only go into the catch tank so the intake gets nice clean air, but his catch tank was a big DICE one with a big element filter etc, but i would like to do the same to my SX but to me it makes little sence if theres still a pipe leading to the intake? Perhaps i have the concept wrong but thats how i understand it.

there is no breather pipe on the intake..
it comes from your block up to the cam covers but yea rebuild your motors and you wont need this...

Re: D1 spec oil catch tank fitting (CA18DET)
+1 but hi boost will still blow by oil but not much
the hose that goes to the intake has Pcv valve so will only suck oil when of boost and on ideling
