Blueish smoke!

Post by jonnye55 »

Hi guys, first day on the forum, be nice. My s13 (very cool car) started smoking up at low revs when im off the power(decelarating). I did by accident fill up a lil too much oil which seem to have started the smoke issue, however, the oil level is almost normal now but still smokes up. Any advise on how to fix this guys... also, has a sorta flat spot between 2 -3k rpm. Any help will be much appritiated.

Sounds like your knock sensor might be faulty, have a look it may just be the wire that have broken off or something

Just get the car to the right amount of oil 1st, it might be that there is some damaged seals depending on how much you over filled it!

Hi

Thanks for the speedy response. :) Please mind the "dumb" questions now. Where will I find the knock sensor? Which seals could have been damaged by this? btw, i didnt fill the oil.. :(

Dont think to much oil can damage any seals that will cause smoking, thats the symptoms of turbo on its way out.
As for the 2-3k might be the knock sensor situated on the RH side(Driver side) of the motor in front of the starter behind the brace/bracket supporting the intake mani. My money is on fuel pump tho.

Best you can do for a fuel pump would be a Wallbro , you can get them from R1k to R1,5 depending on who you buy from.
I believe Pegasus still has one he want's to sell.

Turbo , well this is where the fun starts, best option would be something like a GT2860 which would probably set you back in the R10k(new) reagent.
Alternatively you can go for a WR280 from MR Turbo or Stallion turbo's ,they go for round R4k.

Thank you much. Would still like to do a fault find to know the exact problem before i look into any of these things. The car still runs very well and the turbo screams along as it always did. Will post my findings once i find it :)

it could also be that when you overfilled with oil, you now have some oil residue in the exhaust and that is whats coming out.
just basics

Power is nothing without control,
Control is not fun without power.
Traction is over rated.
