there are cleverer  s13 guys on this forum than me but I reckon you should:

get a 76mm pipe if you can afford to change.
get a boost controller. preferably electric, although for 0.8 bar I think a manual may be fine.
Get a walbro fuel pump (gss-341 with the 400-766 filter kit)
Adjustable fuel ...

Upgrading the fuel pump is always a good idea. Probably a must if you looking for over 130wkw. Which is not hard to do.

My CA is old, has 300k kms on it. I fitted a 76 mm exhaust, removed the viscous fan, fitted a cone filter and then had her timing set on a dyno.

She made 160kw at the fly or ...

I do get what you're saying Gary. I know R10k is not an astronomical figure when it comes to a rebuild. Especially considering it's a turbo motor with spares as scares and uncommon as a CA.

My NA build cost far more than 10k. Without even trying hard.

Sparco Racing seats with rails - s13

My black sparco racing seats with the red Sparco embroidery are up for sale.

I'm pretty sure they are not genuine sparco's or I would have had to pay 2 or 3 times what I paid for them. But they are still very nice seats and in perfect condition. Done maybe 300kms in the sx since I bought them. And ...

If you keep the recepit for the new motor with you then you should be okay in the event of a roadblock.

Also, if the engine number of the CA is in the same place as the SR (at the joint between the block and gearbox) then no cop is gonna be able to check it at a roadblock in the first place..?

Depends. If the timeline for the proper build isn't that long I may consider driving around with the import motor unregistered. (I don't drive the sx that often as I commute by bike daily)

But, re-registration is not such a big deal to be honest. I've done it twice before and if you have your ...

Aha. Daniel that's what I suspected.

I reckon a decent import motor with <100k on it is probably a good buy.

My current logic is to drop in an import as:
it's cost effective
it's a straight swap
no need for aftermarket EMS
get to have a spare motor

Then run it for say a year while I take the ...

Rebuilds that don't last must be either a bad build or improper engineering.

If done right it should be if nothing else reliable.

But the fact of the matter is yes it seems expensive. Then again, if you threw in some forged internals, work the head, do the cams etc then the cost quickly go to R30k ...
