Mines Chip

Post by Phinx »

Finally On Wednesday I received my chip from the states it took around 8 weeks to arrive damn..

Its a custom Mines Map taken from a mines ECU. I have opted to set the limiter to 8000rpm. The guy was really helpful and requested all my mods and desired boost settings along with fuel being used.

I have to admit Soldering the ECU is a ##$#. It took me around 5 hours to do
And then you have to start the car and you hope it doesn't kill something.

The car started fine without any issues and I'm testing it around town today the timing had to be retarded as I'm getting pinging at around 4000 rpm.

Well let you know about the power gains

Well Maybe it did something...

I finally had a run with an SMG M3 this Afternoon.
In first gear he left me for dead I cant get traction but second gear we where neck and neck till traffic stopped us.

OK, Finally have some information for anyone interested in the "Mines Chip".

The car over fuels a lot on boost, Nothing major but it can be seen , The "chip" has a very aggressive timing cure (If it could be called that).

I had to retard my timing back to around 10 degrees BTDC just to stop the pinging and the massive timing retard aftermath, In honesty power feels down slightly but my "Butt crack dyno" has never worked correctly so I will need dyno time hopefully at "Snails Dyno"

Over all the car is better, It starts easier and in traffic is a lot smoother at lower Rpm's , Interestingly the Fuel Economy has increased very slightly.

Now its just down to finding the right timing and getting the CO set for the money I am not complaining I could always do with a little more fuel to be on the safe side of things and at R 600 its not bad

would like to see what happens on the dyno.
I also dont like the idea of retarding the timing so much. Although thats based on nothing other than it sounds wrong to me :?
