misfire on lean idle.

So trying to find my misfire when leaning out fuel mixture. Changed plugs,coil,injectors and then decided to tear engine apart to check cyl head and pistons. Found cracked ringlands on engine that only had boost set to
0.3 bar as we were trying to figure out the misfire. So moral of the story is do not buy an engine with a busted turbo as it was probably overboosted. :idea:

Cracked ring lands will not be the cause of a misfire unless the chamber is badly oiled up and the plug wont fire.
If the piston is so badly holed that there is zero compression it will give the same symptoms as a misfire.

I presume the miss fire only manifested itself after you started leaning things out. What size injectors and what management you running ?

One thing I learnt is that a Dicktator Gotech and big injectors will either be rich or miss fire as it cannot control the injectors more precisely..

The engine would have a weak cylinder as soon as you put the a/f above 13 . Did a comp test and this cylinder was always slightly weaker than the rest. Thought it might have been a sticky valve as i would get a popping sound out of exhaust. Hydrocarbons was also to high no matter what we did. The turbo on this engine was melted (shaft and ceramic bearing area). Note the problem was there on initial start up but clears as soon as you drive above 1200 rpm. It gradualy got worse until it would only go away above 1800 rpm. Just trying to let rhe guys know what they could encounter. :idea:
