To twin scroll or not to...

Post by phoenix s14 »

Hey all,

I am considering a redesign on my current setup and am considering fitting a GT3071R but I am also considering going twin scroll...

Do you guys have any opinions on this particular question?

why go through all the effort on the ex mani to go twin scroll when a normal gt30 on a 'off the shelf' ex mani is a perfect choice for the 2ltr. You can break you box with the power the GT30 will make and its so easy to drive .
No brainer GT30 FTW
Most of all the fastest sx's at moment have a GT30

Seems like the spool time on the GT3071R TS is better than a GT2871R. And it is bigger and that is all that matters...

I hate lag... honestly would go through the effort just for that
Also need the bigger size to keep boosting up to the new 8500rpm redline... hence why I want a GT30 but am unsure about the twin scroll since I dont want the GT30 to laaaag

Spec will be:

87mm CP pistons - acquired already
forged rods - acquired already
new crank - here's to hoping
possibly a VE setup - hence the 8500rpm

should bring cc to about 2050cc which should spool a bit better than stock pistons...

Go twin scroll...also use smaller diameter manifold piping , same size as port diameter.
Run two pipes from the separate tube pairs for a single waste gate setup. That`s what I have on the RB at the moment.
