Hitting the 160rwkw mark - CA18DET

Post by MacNello »

Hey Fellas

I just need some general opinions and suggestions on getting my SX to the ± 160rwkw mark. I know its not to crazy to get to but its a daily drive, I just like stepping it out on the streets and dropping the occasional DUB / ST.

It's a CA18DET (260 000km on the clock)

So far I've fitted :
- Cone Filter Induction
- 76mm St/Steel exhaust from the down pipe
- Installed a new T28 turbo with braided lines. (Only Boosting - 8psi = 0.55bar)
- Boost Gauge
- Turbo Timer
- Recently went in for a good service. (General service along with Diff oil and Gear box oil change - she's been regularly services every ± 5000 since she drove off the floor)

What I would still like to do:
- FMIC
- Oil Catch Tank (Tappet looks like its sweating a little, need it to breath)
- Walbro Fuel Pump
- Stage 1 ECU Chip (ebay)
- BOV (should it be a SSQ and do I mount it at the throttle side or intercooler(hot air) side ?)
- Injectors (will these need to be upgraded for this amount of Kw's ?)
- Finally a good dyno (what should the boost be upped to ? Don't wanna punish my motor)

Let me know what you think, looking forward to see the replies.

id say install a electronic boost controller that will allready help you as you have a low boost setting and a high boost setting keep the low at 0.4 watever and make the high round 0.85 0.9bar then when you want to give it you set it to high boost and. as far as i know with bigger injectors you need to tune the ecu and i could be wrong but you cant on a standard ecu the super chip might take care of it but i dont know.....dont waste your time with ebay speak to rat on the forum he sells the super chip. if i were you id also get a front mount intercooler installed when boosting higher you need the suporting mods.

Your list looks good so far, I would dump the stage 1 chip because no one here could tune it so that would cause your dyno tuning to be a waste of time. Rather get a nistune system or look at an aftermarket ECU. You will need bigger injectors to run that much power safely, 460cc should be fine. A FMIC is a must.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the replies !

Ill definitely be fitting a FMIC and a EBC. So you rate the super chip won't be any good ? Nistune or Gotech where my second options, need to get the pricing on it along with those 460cc's. Will keep you guys posted -will soon slap some pictures and dyno graphs when its hooked up.

If you need Nistune, give me a shout at info@kaihatsu.co.za...By far the best affordable tuning system for Nissans.

Just some feedback

So after my original post I have installed the following:

- Oil Catch tank
- FMIC (custom piping and cooler)
- Blow of Valve
- Replaced most old looking vacuum pipes
- New MAF
- Upped the boost to 0.65
- Went for a good dyno at BMC tuning / Full Boost / Budler Motorsport lol (advanced the timing, checked A/F Ratio, adjusted MAF)

View dyno sheet below [smilie=200sx_2guns.gif]

163.4 RWKW's at 260 NM - this is the safest and most optimum I can run it any higher and ill need to do injectors, FPR and ECU. Looking at building an article soon (just got to sort through all the pictures)
