S14 Battery light

Post by shiraazz »

Just came home now, and saw while i was idling my car the battery light on, when I rev, it gets dim.
Where do I start checking for the problem?

Thanks in advance

The diode pack has two or three diodes blown. Regulator will be un effected.
There are six on the plate, usually half of them -one phase-pops.

Fix it , ! or your car will use the battery while ideling !

And only run on alti when you revving it up , So if you idle long enough your battery will die !

Shiraas , the voltage will be 14v even though the diode pack is fubarred.
Diode plate with the diodes attached are within the alternator housing. The plate makes up the rectifier pack for the alternator.
The reason the light starts glowing at low revs is the current demand from the cars electrics. You will find that by testing it on a test bench it will be way down on current supply (amps) when the demand hits.
