Is this a blown head gasket?

Post by H8rlequinb »

Hey guys.

Would this be called a blown head gasket? Sorry I know I am a noob.... Also how badly would my car somke if only the head gasket blew? As in White clouds that would rival the space shuttle launch or just the gradual smoke I see so often?

To be sure let your car warm up, switch it off and keep an eye on the exhaust...after about a minute...if you see smoke(steam) coming out...it's a HG....and before you take it off...retorque your head first and check again...if you don't have the money now it may buy you some time if the HG did not get hurt.

Sometimes the head becomes loosish cousing the symtom of a blown HG...retorque is just to buy some time...you should replace at some stage.

Are the OEM Nissan Gaskets any good? Asking because the one I had on was supposed to be one of the best.... Then again I have no idea which is best.
