Painting the head/rockercover??

Post by Captian »

So I have a 4aFe motor and in the process of stripping it to fix the Bearings etc.

I tthe head will be opened I want to get it painted.
Maybe a design of the rising sun or go chrome...

What paint to use?
What preparation should be taken before applying paint?
What materials shold be used to clead and prepare surface for paint?

Any other advice and comments will be helpfull thank you

Did you do it yourself or send it in?
Is yours a single colour?

any paint is prep work

you need to sand down the cover make sure it smooth then clean it with thinners

after that get yourself 2k car paint spray a decent primer on then let dry then spray the 2k over

you dnt need heat resistant 2k lasted over a year on my ca and still going strong after all our cars sit in hot sun all day

Easier to do the tins if they off,so while they putting the motor back together work it out takes about 2 days in paint, polishing takes 4-5 days depending on what part it is.
