Solid or hydraulic lifters on a RB25DET

Post by richardRB25DET »

Hello to all.

Was wondering if there is anybody that could advise me on the pros and cons of converting my RB25DET's valve train to solid lifters.

At the moment the motor is fairly stock and probably makes about 230kw at 0.8bar.
How do RB25's behave under heavy load at higher than normal RPM when they fitted with stock hydraulic lifters?
For example, if I should take part in a quarter mile drag race, will stock hydraulic lifters become noisy?
A oil cooler will soon be fitted as well.

Have any of you guys converted to solid lifters, what does it cost and were do i get the necessary spares needed to complete the job?

Any info will be appreciated.
My motor is currently with Wynand (RB25SX) and if it is worth doing then I might just have it done now while the opportunity is there.

Regards
Richard

Not worth the cost and effort.
R25DET NEO and RB26DETT come std with solid lifters.
Rudeboy (RB25DET)made 500kw and could rev to 8500+ rpm with hydr. lifters.
