I think animal testing is a terrible idea - they get all nervous and give the wrong answers!

Howdy, It all depends on the depths of your pockets, I take it from your pick you're getting a S14, that nice for drifting on a stock setup, a S13 has more of a natural understeer where a S14 is more neutral, best to get first would probably be a drop (or coilovers if you can afford) and strut braces. We've started a drift club called "Opposite Lock" you can join the forums at http://forum.drift.ro The dude's there will be able to give you alot more info too!

Also make friends with Ian (Chats as Rezlo on the forums) and his spare shop at http://www.rezlo.com

hey dude, thanks for the info, i plan to get my car to about 180kw if i can do it within financial reason, but the handling is first priority. i am really happy to know that the s14 handles better than the 13 standard, and one day when i have enough tom, i want to get the tein drift setup. keep in touch

180kw on the fly, easy:

76mm exhaust, s/steel dump pipe and a cone filter and maybe a boost controller and you got it, maybe even more.

180kw on the wheels, Well, that will take a bit more tom, you'll be able to get that much on stock internals, but you will need to upgrade to bigger injectors and a ecu remap and a Front Mount intercooler.

Chat to Dislex666, he's got a beast of a S14, he's spent a small country's debt on it, but he's giving M3's a clap and he's still on low boost! 1/4 mile for him is in the low 13's I think!

Also check Rezlo's site, he has D2 drift suspension kits to die for!

welcome mikey!!!

its wicked to have another person into drifting, and the s14 is one of the best platforms you could have chosen in sunny souf efrika!

as for dump valves - its totally up to you. most of them work well, and you will find that they range from say 400 - 2500 rand. your car should have a standard dumpvalve installed anyway, so why waste money on an aftermarket one. whatever you want, but try to get one that has the sound you like. for me - i dont dig the whistling types, but thats just me!!!

as for mods for drifting - here's where you need to make some serious decisions.

1. you can drift on the totally standard car - i promise!!!

2. if its drifting that you are serious about then you should modify the suspension first. your engine will have enough output as it is.

suspension - get rid of sloppy bodyroll. get polyurethane bushes (cost about a grand) get solid subframe bushes, get a solid steering bush, hahaha but this will make your car react quicker than you can at the beginning so here's point 3.

3. dont get too despondent at the beginning, you will suck at drifting unless you're some kind of child genius like dexter!!! just keep on keeping on!!!

4. find a tire dealer that will supply you used tires at low costs. we use totally knackered tires that cost us R50 or so per tire. they dont last too long, but its much cheaper that way.

ciao
