why a sx?

Post by whisper »

Well guys, im looking for a nice sporty turbo'd car that i can use everyday.
i am a student so something that doesnt guzzle fuel would obviously be preferred....
my mate recommended the 200sx and it does really appeal to me.
ill need the car pretty soon as my present car is starting to break down. iv had my car for 4years now and its got over 330 000kms on Exclamation and i think i need a change hehe.

SO...why the 200sx??? Very Happy

if you gona buy an SX be prepared to spend , i bought mine for 40k and ive spent an additional 10k getting all the small problems it had fixed

its not cheap to maintain and its not lite on gas , but i love these cars so i bought one and that should be the only reason why should even consider buying one

I used to get 9litres for every 100KM - Couldn't get it any lower. Got it lower once, but that meant I never started it.

If your present car starting to break down, then it would probably be better to fix that.
I used to what for parts 6/8 weeks from Nissan......that's when they knew what an SX was!!

So why the SX?.....why not!

Also agree with rat and wes....

AWESOME cars. even if they are 15-20 years old you can still take out a G5 Gti / Vtec and the like.

I also bought mine for R40k. and If i was a little smarter with the car I could've saved a lot. but even now, i'm not disappointed that I bought it.

I have spent a total of around R25k on the car so far, but that was replacing the motor, mags, bigger turbo, bigger IC etc.

But if you get one thats in good nic, and you love cars, thus servicing it yourself etc. you should be a good candidate for a SX...

But then again. its old... its going to break... and if you're not careful, murphy will bend you over and do the nasty to you. These cars are awesome... lemme just qoute something I was told when I bought my car....

veecee wrote:with all of that realistic crap on my other post in mind, never ever forget that the reason this forum, and this group of friends, exist is because of these great cars.

they are more than just cool looking vehicles. more than just great potential for track cars. more than just panty droppers. more than just a bucket of bolts. more than all of that.

a car like this will become a part of your life, or it will become an incessant source of irritation, how you choose to perceive it will again be a personal thing. but most of the people here are extremely passionate about their S chassis nissans, and that (in a short concise way) is what these cars are about.

its more than just A to B.

and its way wwwwaaaaayyyyy more than just an expense on the balance sheet of life!!!

This was one of the main reasons I bough a SX. Cause I also wanted to feel so passionate as VC did back then.... now he drives a golf :P

My advice would be to not buy this car... yet. I don't know you in person, so I cannot comment on your personality, but I can comment on general statistics: students wreck these cars. We had about 5 of them lost to accidents 2 years ago, all were teenagers or thereabouts. Windgat driving does not suit this car if you don't have lots of experience or have done skidpan training, etc. Also (for this reason) insurance will be high - please check that before you even begin shopping. And I haven't even said anything about the cost of maintaining this car...

If you do buy an sx:
Budget about 10k more than the buying price and fix absolutely everything that needs attention! then when alls well spend as much time as you can under the bonnet, even if it's just cleaning it! this will give you an intimate bond with your car.\
I think everyone will agree with me that maintenance and care is a lot more fun than repairs. you have to put in the time, either way!!!

Think about her like a high maintenance supermodel!!
If you give her all the love and attention she needs, she'll give you the best sex ever on a daily basis!
BUT IF YOU DON'T, she will get away from you and you'll hate yourself for allowing it!!!

Prevention is the best remedy!!
