Why not just use serial-USB adaptor??

because they suck completely.

i havent come across one that worked.

thats why i had such issue with my gotech, and then the only machine i did have with the rs232 port got stolen. those @#@#$%^$%*%^&* bastards!

I use a usb to serial adapter and it works for me just fine.
RB25 S13 - in a perpetual state of broken-ness...

I've used xp and vista and had no problems. I ordered mine online. I don't remember from where but I may be able to find it agian. Will try.

my usb to serial convertor also works fine, but the thing to remember with these convertors is that the timing expected by a serial (rs232) device is very precise, but not all usb convertors are created equal, some use cheap ass chipsets, other's drivers are not well written.

generally a convertor using a "prolific" (the manufacturer) chipset has reasonable precise timing, and works most of the time.. so you play russian roulette when you buy a covertor, it might or might not work..

there are other reasons too, but im too lazy to type it out :)
