Hey dudes... so I discovered my car keeps using coolant... and I noticed this damp patch on the paving in the garage...
Now this bothered me the past week... So tonite I did a bit of investigating, only to find that its my waterpump thats leaking. I searched a few forums and they say its something called a weeping hole... to tell you your water pump is f$##ed... Like just underneath the pump?? is this true??. Can I now say that my pump is Fooked?
if it is... then a long list of swear words will commence....

Start swearing them long words man... I had the problem with my Sentra 160 and with the 200sti and with my Primera... so yeah there is a hole on the bottom of the water pump and as soon as the seal goes it starts running out there...
Lesson I learned concerning keeping your cooling system optimal and not getting them cracked heads everyone keeps moaning about on Nissans...
Mix your anti-freeze with DISTILLED water. It does not contain minerals and hence does not form big rust deposits. usually only a thin light brown film and that is that...
Believe me it is worth spending the bucks... just make sure it is not "battery water" as this is acidic. has to be pure distilled water...

yep, i concur.. there is indeed a weeping hole at the bottom of the waterpump, underneath the shaft.
and more than a drop or two water coming out there means only one thing : the shaft seal is busy packing up or has already packed up.. sorry mate

Distilled water is similar to De-Ionised water the process involes running the water through a filter system, then a reverse osmosis(RO) system and then deionizer. This will lower the conductivity of the water to a point where the water has very little minerals in them eg. Magnesium or Potassium.
Putting this in your vehicle is good, but bear in mind....
This water would absorb minerals faster then normal water, the water is so pure that if you wash you hands with it, you hands would get very dry cos it would absorb all the minerals and oils on your hands.
Same thing would happen in your car, so if you gonna use distilled water make sure you do a full water flush with distilled water a few times before using it and yes it is better that using normal water.
My 2c.

Oh ok, I dont want that to happen.
Look for a chemical supply comapny in your area, and I ask them for Distilled water, its packaged in 5, 10 and 25lts.

"the water is so pure that if you wash you hands with it, you hands would get very dry"
jeesh, now I am wondering about whether it is safe to drink 'pure water'
