There are a number of potential possible problems that may cause this. First do a compression test. To see if your rings/ bores are still ok. (this is the most expensive to fix) The second is that the turbo could be having a oil seal thats bust. I believe that MR.Turbo do recons on the turbo.

The other possibility is that the white smoke appears when the car is sideways and you are fairly hard on the gas. I which case watch for rear tyre wear.

My guess, close to or more than the cost of buying a new turbo

If you get the kit, you can do the recon at home...

One of the SNS issues have a step by step guide on how to rebuild a turbo... half and hour job after the turbo has been removed from the car.

I redid my T3/T4 (cost R195) and seems to still do the trick...

I am sure the T28 will be more expensive for the kit...

Some people I am sure will say you need to balance everything again, which I am not convinced about, unless your shaft (turbo shaft) has uneven wear and this was causing the seals to fail in the first place...

I think we have to start developing a troubleshooting sheet with these type of issue on them and have the responses, answers and suggestions on them, as we keep getting the same queries

- and quite rightfully so... if someone is new they don't have the history of the past posts...
