Cooling System Upgrade

Post by Pinkfluffybunnys »

Howzit Guys…

I don’t think I have made it aware to allot of people but in the summer months I dread two things first is the rain and second is the heat now, I have been having cooling issues with the SX for some time, part of the why I don’t like driving far with the car. I thought I could solve my problem by installing an oil cooler and temp gauge but this just showed me the extent of my problem when keeping the car off boost oil temps would stay at around 90 degrees C depending on traffic now this is not to bad but if I went into boost it would spike to around 95 – 98 degrees C and if I carried on boosting it would get close to 110 degrees C now all this doesn’t sound to bad at all till you factor in these are temps after the oil cooler as I installed the sender in the wrong place.

So then I installed a lower opening thermostat this Helped especially in traffic but when boost the temps would still climb to the same place as the cooling system was struggling to get rid of all the extra heat so a Great deal fell into my lap thanks to Nismo200sx and I was able to purchased his old Ali radiator and 1.1bar radiator cap. I didn’t expect it to make such a huge difference but I was amazed I can boost the cr@p out the car and temps stay bellow 90 degrees C but I wanted to ask a few questions

RAW do you install Ali radiators to you clients cars?
Also why are My Idle EGT’s lower and my WOT EGT’s higher now same air flow in the engine bay does anyone know?

But the upgrade has made me a lot more confident in the car and I don’t spend that much time staring at the temp gauge
