U guys think the CA motor is being pushed to breaking point? Cos there's not much of a power difference between them.

Its a fantastic build with awesome results. That thing on the right-side of the CA engine bay looks like a fridge tho  . Guess its a case of the best of both worlds, 6 cylinder power but not much weight has been added to the car. Wonder what the bill came to... :?

I Think both motors are great, they don't call the CA18 the little RB for nothing and no its not the looks.

The SR20 is just as good.

But the thing that gets me everytime is the CA18 was designed in the mid 80's and then put into production at the end of the 80's and that motor still out runs Polo GTi's and a few other "new Tech" engines.

Thus for the age of the engine and the way it was engineered way back then still amazes me!

I know all of us had problems with our CA18's even tho its just little things, but I have heard of so many more golf 4 GTi's, Polo Gti's, even golf 5 GTi's with so much more crap, bearing knocks, over heating, oil line blocks, detting, waterpump failures all kinds of things, and those motors were designed in the 90's and and 00'

The japs must have done something right with the CA18 then!

I think performance is directly related to the size of your wallet !!! Some of those high hp engines use only the std head casting and block with all the covers. Inside is forged cranks, stainless oversise valves, forged pistons, conrods and any other high performance part they can find. They could produce over 1000 hp out of a 1500 cc turbo engine in F1, about 20 years ago. So all depends on how much you want to spend.
The Norris S13 is a good example, 50 000 pounds = R750 000. of wich more than half went into the engine.
It still remains awsome, I would love to own something like that. :D

I would rather have the R750k in my bank.

NOW YOU ARE TALKING  , new R35 GTR,.... dont think we will see it here. Nissan SA is to scared of anything that technical. As long as they can sell double cab bakkies for over R300 000, why would they invest all the money in a car that most dealers wont be able to service. Thats Africa for you !!
