How do I fit black plastic targa strip to my z32 300zx?

Hi

I bought a new black plastic curved strip that fits on the top centre of the targa beam. However, I am not sure how to get the inside roof and light unit off so that I can fit my strip (at least not without what seems to be an inordinate amount of removal of other inside panels). Anyone done this job before?
