CA18DET std ring sizes?

Post by turbophonic »

ANybody know the width and depth sizes for the three indiviual rings on the piston???
im trying to order a set of ROSS chome plated rings(for high boost) but need the size of the rings to put on the standard agents issue CA18det pistons.
Can anybody help??
ps:does anybody know what the agents issue rings are made of(cast iron...or are they chrome moly...and what is max boost with these std rings?)

Sorry, factory manual only gives side clearance and end gap.

I would buy and match the rings and pistons from the same supplier, only after I got the exact sizes from the engineering shop. My $0.02

Nissan list 5 grades (sizes) standard pistons and 2 oversize pistons. Make sure your pistons are in spec before you add rings.

I thought these rings you wanted were for stock pistons? I know what the CP and Ross ring sizes are but I asked him to get the stock ring size so i can make sure they are compatible with stock pistons,

What pistons are you trying to find rings for, stock or aftermarket?

Oii, dont get an attitude, when you say you already landed pistons implies they are not stock. Not many people would import/buy stock sized stock pistons being that it would be rather pointless especialy when your your talking about large amounts of boost when picking rings, yet stock pistons cant take large amounts of boost at all, infact they are the weakest part of your whole motor.

You mind as well go to Alert engine parts and get a set of AE or similar rings for a NA CA18DE which are redily available, most of nissans NA and FI cars come with chrome plated top rings which is all you realy need to combat the added heat and pressure created by turbo's if your using stock pistons.

I have already spent more than 2 hours trying to find out what rings are compatible with the stock pistons with no one giving me the same answer, from here on out if you want rings you tell me what u want (band and part number) and if they dont work its not my problem. I dont have all day to sit and fck around trying to find out info that needs to be supplied to me by the customer.

Alot of after market piston makers use slightly thicker ring sets. You need to measure your pistons and then cross reference them.

I would not recomend using a ring set that is to taut as you will probably lift the ring land's on your stock pistons

yeah actualy i should have one, this week so far ive got 800 emails with people asking me questions, 90% of the time the story changes as the emails/messages get more technical, you got thrown straight into the 90% catagory, sorry bout that.

But as i said on that drift site thing, rather use OE or similar rings if your going to e using them on stock pistons, its far safer.
