Question about installing ES suspension bushes.

Post by Doctor G »

I need some input from someone who has done this before and who Knows the answers to this:

In the first picture below, which of the control arms need to have the outer metal sleeve removed?

From the instructions I know for a fact that D and E below must be cut with a hack saw. The other simply say "remove bush with a press". So this is where the instructions that came with the kit aren't that clear. Does that include removing the outer metal shell? I've burned out the rubber bushing itself already.

Also, why does it state that certain ones need to be cut with a hack saw before removing the shell?

Now, on the spindle, the instructions are very specific that the outer shell labelled "2" must be cut with a hack saw before being removed with a hammer and a punch.

What's the deal with positions 1 & 3? Must their outer metal shells be removed? and if so, must they also be cut with a hack saw first?

hey G

in your first pic all of the inner shells need to be removed.

in you second pic all of the inner shells need to be removed. however i seem to remember that one of the bushes didnt have an inner shell, but i would have to confirm this when i can see the spindle without the rubber in them.

on some cars i've done you dont have to use a hacksaw to remove the tension on the shell, on other i had to first saw through the inner shell.

only the lower control arm on the front of the car shouldn't have its inner shell removed. this makes the front much much easier to do than the rear!!!

does this mean that you managed to remove that rear arm that was giving you so much kak???

Ok cool. Thanks V.

Well you can see the first arm in the first pic is still dirty. That be the MOFO that didn't want to come loose. But after a lot of convincing with a grinder it finally gave way!!

Now I just have to beat his twin brother on the left of the car. And here there is not room for a grinder so I dunno what the plan is yet.

I hope Nissan sells those damn camber adjustment bolts seperately!!!
