Itercooler sizing for upgrade...
For my next mod I'm looking at getting a decent front-mounted intercooler for my CA18DET. Just wondering if you guys could please assist me in what size of intercooler to go for. I'm still running the stock T2.5 turbo... And also what would be the correct diameter boost pipes for this application, and if mandrel bent pipes would be a pre-requisite for increased air flow?
Any input or recommendations would be appreciated... Thanx!

Perhaps revisit the water spray on IC Idea, well I still want to do that. Sommer a DIY jobby.Vlade wrote:I ran a 600x300x76 with my T25 and found it to work very well, lag didn't increase that much maybe 100/200 rpm if most, but temperatures, even now when highway driving i'm below 30 the whole time...
Only when standing still the I've noticed the bigger IC's soak up allot of heat

did some reading up on that one... don't know about the PP units but one can drive it off the ECU, but the guys said one must just trigger it intelligently otherwise it will spray nearly all the time...
I'm sommer going to use my window washer with a fuel cutoff valve that one can buy at midas... how it will work is, when you want to use the back window washer the spray will it the IC, since one don't use it very often it aint a problem, but when the ECU triggers the back window washer, the valve closes the window spray, and it will only spray the IC... One can do it decently with two valves but that is little over kill I think.
Then triggering should be on engine load and temperature, if only temperature or only engine load you'll be spraying all the time. so say > 90% > 55° you'll be safe and you water should last a few trips, otherwise you'll be filling up every trip you do.

The PP XMS unit runs my fans according to temp, so I think it shouldn't be a problem adding that.
I would still like to use the rear spray, I often do, so the ECU should close the "washers" valve automaticaly when activating the IC spray perhaps wiring in a second one onto the washer spray button to close IC spray when the R window spray is activated (I think this is what you meant anyway) Schweet I like the Idea, would work great.
What to use as a spray nozzle tho, one of those cool me down sprays you find at some restaurants?
Let me know when you do this I would like to come take a look and get some tips

Naa no thanks, not for me. I dont want to relay on something like that. Water + metal + meth eating away at something or other does not seem like a good idea to me.Gary57 wrote:Why dont you just go water/meth injection?? IC spray is like, pissing against a thunder storm, against water/meth.

It only cost money innitially, then to run it is dirt cheap. PM me can organise you something Im sure
.
I dont fully rely on water/meth it is there as an additive and thats it. I carry a spare bottle with me (hidden in my boot) so if I do run out I have. When I run out I can imediately feel its not there.
