Dunno how true it is, but you can fit the FWD Dizzy into the CAS mounting/hole of the RWD car, some tuners who think that "coil packs are the devil" do it so you can run a single mother of a coil and arc weld your piston with each stroke......

I think thats what was done in the pic, cos the plug leads are too short and dont look stock...

I think condensers and points in distributors are the devil.

we were talking about it on a different thread, but basically i found a write-up on the net that shows how to wire in the bosch aftermarket standalone coils.

they are two wire coils, and our system uses a 3 wire setup, but you just leave one of the wires out.

you then mount the coils anywhere you want, and run HT leads to the plugs!

so the coils dont have to sit in that hot crevice and eventually f_ck out!!!

hmmm - i wouldnt mind sitting in a hot crevice and eventually f_cking out!!!!     8) 8)

well i'm definitely no electrician, but you get a live wire, a trigger wire, and a ground.

as far as i understand the ground is left off. i'm not sure if this is because the coil is grounded by its mounting bracket or what.

i'll have to search my archives for the article!!!

The biggest problems with changing to other coils is the dwell time built into the ignitor, of which most nissans use external ignitors. If you dont find a coil to replace your current one that has the same dwell it wont work properly.

Splitfires are nice as direct drop in, but they are pricey and dont offer a performance upgrade, they just replace, the best bet is to stay with the stock coil packs and just look after them, keep them clean and moisture free. They will hold LOADS of power.

changing to external distributer will require changing to a stand alone, and if you going to go threw that much hassle you mind as well go stand alone and use 2 MSD GM dual poll coils, works mint!
