Boost pipe issue - need to remove bumper

Well after they repaired my leaking manifold, one of the boost pipes' clamps was apparently not tightened.

So last night while driving the boost pipe came loose. It's the one coming from the turbo making a near 90deg bend near the filter, before it disapears into the fender/bumper.

The elbow/bend has a thick plastic OEM cover over it with some yellow fibre in it. All of that blew out and all over the engine bay etc.

Now I need to remove the bumper so I can get the inlet pipe of the IC off to check if any of this stuff went into the pipe, before I simply stick the pipe back and clamp it down.

My point is: I need to remove the bumper. Is there a "how to" or is it pretty straight forward?

I remember doing something similar. Just jack up front and work from bottom. I think I removed the stock FMIC that way.
Pretty easy? not to bad.

cool. I just had a brain wave. Think I should just stick a vacuum cleaner nozzle in the pipes and suck out any possible junk that went in there....

but if you need to remove the bumper still its piss man

just the nuts on the fender can be tricky if you dont have a long extension. I used one of those mini ratchets with like 3 extensions and some contortion for the others

If you have the standard IC & piping, you don't need to remove the bumper.
Just piece of plastic cover under the IC, which is part of the under fender trimmings.

If you have some sort of fancy frontmount IC.....then er.....goodluck.

G - that thick black plastic thing with the yellow fluff inside is a cover that goes over the boost pipes to prevent them heating up the engine bay - i think!

actually i dont really know why they have shit like that - but they do.

my point is - if that came off, how did it go inside the boost pipes??? also - if it did go inside the boost pipes, it'll be a few fibres only, and those will brun up quickly in the combustion chambers!!!

although it is a CA18det, maybe its best to check. these engines just love all the attention.

anyway the bumper doesnt need to come off, just remove the wheel, take off half the fender liner bolts (the front half) and bend it rearwards. you should then see the intercooler and its piping and be able to work on it from there!

if you do remove the bumper - its really fun to align it again!!! have a blast!
