Direct turbo swop and a few other questions

Post by RBSX »

Hi guys

I was wondering

1)Is there any bigger turbo that you can do a direct upgrade to
i mean like its fits onto your stock manifold and boost pipes and down pipe
i heard some say you could use the T2.8 from s14, sr20det i thinks

2)what boost does a stock S13 run

3) if you buy one of those el cheapo boost controllers that use the valve to control the actuator and up the boost, what is a safe boost to run on the stock turbo, is anyone doing this at the moment

4) whats the maixumum boost you can run on a completely stock engine

thanks guys for all the help and input,

1. I also heard the T28 was a direct fit but quote me on that.

2. 0.6Bar

3. 0.8Bar??

4. 0.8Bar, heard some people say 1Bar but then I would think you would need a FMIC at least.

1. yes it does with minor adjustments, you need to grind a small amount away on the manifold and the air intake pipe to the turbo is abit different, quite easy to get that sorted aswell.

2.
3.
4. I boosted 1 bar on the stock intercooler and setup, although in the long run 0.8 is safe for the turbo and engine, I ran a colder spark plug aswell, the best is to do it on a dyno under load to make sure there is no detonation.....

Detonation may occur with the original setup on 0.8 or higher boost, also depends on octance rating of fuel and fueling setup.

I wouldn't run higher boost on a stock motor unless the fuel has been looked at.

Why not get the turbo you want rather, then trying to get one that fits perfectly?

The 28 can be made to fit without changing boost pipes. Especially if you make a special unobtanium adapter to change the angle of the outlet.

ok so im gona install a boost gauge, and a manual boost controller and then up the boost to 0.8 and see what happens

how do you identify detonation
can the Nos octane booster( the suff autostyle sells in a can ) prevent detonation

Hi

I would also like to fit a T28 (still need to purchase one) to replace my current T25 on a CA 18det. Has anyone done this conversion? What was the outcome with regards to performance compared to the standard T25.

What would be the going price of a T28 turbo?
New- ????
Second hand- ???? (in working order)
