300ZX master cylinder
I know a few guys have the Z32 brake upgrades and the brakes feels kak and spongy. So I have been to see the brake guys here in DBN (There is no cars braking system this guy doesnt know) and he has stock of this ellusive master cylinder BUT its R1000, still a damn side cheaper than importing it.
He says the 200sx master has a 23mm piston and the 300zx has a 25mm piston?! Also he says the 300zx has 3 outlet pipes and 200sx has 2 (which we all know).
He then says he can match us up the master (its exactly the same as the 300zx just not made by Nissan) for R500.
Can anyone confirm these piston sizes cause for R500 its a bargin.

hey gary, some of your info is misleading.Gary57 wrote:I know a few guys have the Z32 brake upgrades and the brakes feels kak and spongy. any 200sx with ABS (most of ours) have 3 outlets on the original MC. you have two for the front left and right, and a single for the rear. those 3 lines go into the ABS module, and then 3 lines leave from it.
go look in your engine bay.
also the 200sx MC is a 7/8 of an inch MC, so 23mm sounds about right (i never know with this imperialistic crap).
your problem comes in with the 300zx MC. most of the 300zx MC's i've seen for sale have only 2 outlets, but the second front outlet is cast closed. a brake shop could drill out the casting, tap it for thread and press in the little seal nozzle thingy no problem.
another issue is the size of the 300zx MC. it depends on the 300zx i think, but you get two sizes, one is 16/16 inch or 25mm basically. the other type is a 17/16, or 1 1/16 of an inch, or about 26.9mm (again not 100% sure).
what i do know is this:
the 7/8 MC (200sx) gives a sloppy pedal feel, although the brakes work, because the required line pressure is only generated at the bottom of the pedal travel. most people dont really like this at all, but the brakes will work and you can get used to it.
the 16/16 MC (300zx) gives a good positive feel, still has normal brake pedal travel, and is probably best suited to normal street drivers. this is the best compromise of all the options, specially for lesser skilled drivers. it will feel most like a normal car.
the 17/16 MC (300zx) gives a hard pedal feel, and an instant brake application. there is very little pedal travel, and the brakes are extremely responsive to a point where it may be annoying to drive. this is great for trackwork but probably not so lekka on street driving, specially in heavy traffic.
i've been researching this a lot over the last week, thats why its all fresh in my head.
also below is a list of the types of MC's that came from the various 300zx models, and it lists the OEM manufacturer and their part number too:
46010-30P01 Manufacture date 2/89 – 7/90 (17/16" NA Tokico)
46010-30P02 Manufacture date 7/89 – 7/90 (17/16" TT Tokico)
46010-30P02 Manufacture date 7/90 – 2/91 (17/16" NA & TT Tokico)
46010-30P10 Manufacture date 2/89 – 7/90 (15/16" NA Nabco non-ABS)
46010-30P21 Manufacture date 2/89 – 7/90 (17/16" NA Nabco)
46010-30P22 Manufacture date 7/89 – 7/90 (17/16" TT Nabco)
46010-30P22 Manufacture date 7/90 – 2/91 (17/16" NA & TT Nabco)
46010-45P00 Manufacture date 9/91 – 9/93 (1" NA TT Tokico)
46010-45P00 Manufacture date 2/91 – 9/91 (1" NA & TT Tokico)
46010-45P20 Manufacture date 9/91 – 9/93 (1" NA & TT Nabco)
46010-45P20 Manufacture date 9/93 – Up (1" NA & TT Nabco)
hope this helps dude!
The reason I say the 200sx master only has 2 pipes coming out of the MC is because mine only has 2. I have 2 pipes coming from the MC to the ABS and then 3 pipes go from the ABS, 2 for the front and 1 for the rear.
So the 25mm piston is the one to go for then?!
Mine is the same as this...your problem comes in with the 300zx MC. most of the 300zx MC's i've seen for sale have only 2 outlets, but the second front outlet is cast closed. a brake shop could drill out the casting, tap it for thread and press in the little seal nozzle thingy no problem.

The whole issue about using the 300Zx Mc is that it has 3 outlets like the 200sx in SA.the ones in the States only use 2 outlets. So it's quite important to have one with 3 outlets or else you have to split the front oulet. please find out if he can match the 300zx 1 1/16th 300zx Mc or if he has stock of the original ones ASAP please.

gary the one to go for is really up to you, and the info i posted i cant back up with my own experience because these MC's are like rocking horse shit. i would really prefer the biggest one myself, because very soon my car will be a pure toy (i might get another daily driver soon - holding thumbs) and i'm on the track often), but at this stage i will take the 25mm one if i can get it!Gary57 wrote:The ones he stocks have 3 outlets. He has the 25mm but said he has match them up with bigger MC before, think he said the Ford F100 was also the same but with a much bigger piston.
so if he has 25mm MC's, with 3 outlets, and with the line outlets on the motor side of the MC, then i am quite keen to buy one. i'm quite sure that n1smo would be too.
would it be possible to get a pic of the MC???
i'm keen on this!

the 300zx MC's available in the states are cast with 3 outlets too, but they only drill out 2 of them!Gary57 wrote:Mine is a 92 with a sunroof.
The MC has 3 output but the 1 is blocked off (cast like that) apparently its the same as the skylines?!
if he can drill out the casting, tap it, and press in the little fitting, then sweet!
if not, ask him his opinion of splitting the front line to the ABS unit. does this work, or does it diminish the braking ability of the vehicle???

This groupbuy stuff just takes too long.I want 2 -for me and Veecee and you want one.I don't think there is anyone else I know on the forum that has 300zx calipers. So if you can get discount on three it will be fine ,otherwise let's just buy the stuff and you ship it to Gangstas Paradise.
