GARY!!! - Maybe you can help - Wolf Issues

Howsit

Got some idle funnies with my Wolf3D sometimes it shoots up to 1500rpm and just stays there, my idle value then remains at 1, when it idle normally the idle value is between 10-20 not sure what exact value...

Any ideas what can be causing the idle to "stick" and just stay at 1500rpm?

Many times it just idles fine, then sometimes it just sticks, I thought it had something to do with the water/air temps but now checked that has no influence...

Ok simple fix, its one of two things. Olny know by trial and error.

1. Your idle valve is set to far open. It is the 10mm nut/bolt on the actual idle bypass valve. Turn this a few turns in and the idle will drop down and the idle value should run up. It is good to have this set at about 100 when the car is hot that why it has enough to drop the idle down when it needs to (your current problem) and enough to open more to give you a fast idle when the car is cold.

2. Your throttle butterfly is set to far open. Simple just lossen the manual stop and turn it down to allow the butterfly to close more. The idle will drop and should pick it back up. Again try get the idle value to about 100 when the car is hot.

PS: Have you had it tuned yet??

Not with the new engine no... But it was done with the old one back in Aug last year...

It just irritates me when I sit in traffic it idles nicely then traffic moves I stop and it idles at 1500

Cool I'll try what you mentioned there ^^^^ [smilie=200sx_200sx.gif]

Ja it took me ages to sort out the idle and sorts. Waking up at all hours of the night to make changes to the cold start and post start enrichment values to let it cool down and to try it again.

Any hassles gimmi a call sure I can help.

Auto choke... whats that??

Yes it does do cold start enrichment, engine tempreture compensation and you can set it to have a higher idle when the car is cold.

Mine does the same....
Does yours do it all the time?? If so then try adjusting the idle air by pass valve, DONT adjust the throttle stop at all.

Mine does the same as Vlades, sometimes it idles where I set it, then as soon as you come to a stop in traffic or whatever the idle stays up there...next time it is right again.

I closed my idling screw totally, at some stage my car had a nose dive between gear changes as if air escaped somewhere and needed to be built up again, I thaught it might be there so I closed it, that seemed to sort the problem....

I will open it again slightly and see what happens.

i removed all that electronic control crap, and its set mechanically.

no problems at all.

'cept when its -5 degrees centigrade, but then it takes 5 minutes of idling to sort it out.

when its warm it idles perfectly at around 900rpm!

Yeah it might seem that its then not my WOLF that is causing the issue then maybe the valve that is busted... I got an extra one, maybe I should just clean it and try it out.

But I'll try what you said first Gary... When I get a chance

After I had my engine rebuild the wires was plugged in at the wrong place, then it idled fine, as it was set to do, then I changed it and this started, I wonder if I should just try and unplug it and see what happens.

when i got my sx, all that stuff was broken anyway.

and the idling wouldn't sit still. it would wonder between 600 and 950 rpm. when it was warm it would fast idle at about 1200-1500rpm.

thats why i made blanking plates, removed all the electronic crap, and set it mechanically!

sorted!
