Hey Guys,

Update time :D

I've fitted my 440cc injectors and RB25 AFM. I wanted to keep a stock like look, so I modded my stock air box to take the bigger MAF.
I also wired in my SMT8L and tuned it myself. Car runs great and feels stronger in the mid range. I'm still conservative with the timing, but
will sort that out as soon as I slap together some det cans.

This is what it looks like now:

A friend of mine is turbo charging his Corsa bakkie and needed a turbo (after the one he was going to use failed on the dyno), so I told
him he can have mine. This started my big turbo swop...a little earlier than planned, but I wanted to get it done anyway.

Here's a comparison between the stock T25 and what's going on:

IMAG0666.jpg
The big turbo is a sleeve bearing version of a GT2871r with a genuine Garrett GT2876r 0.70AR compressor housing. The exhaust side is 0.64AR.

This is a pic of the mock up I did to determine what size spacer to run between the exhaust manifold and turbo. I have to do this as the big
comp housing fouls on the manifold.

The spacer should be done by the weekend and then i can fit it again to measure up what else will be needed. I'm expecting some lag with this
turbo, but hoping for not too much...guess I'll have to wait and see.

I'll update as soon as there's something to update about.

Cheers,

Thanks man,

I picked the turbo up 2nd hand for cheap, but it needed some work, so it worked out to about R2800 or so.

I would love to go top mount and might still one day, but for now I still have quite a few other things that I want to
do on her and the extra money for a top mount manifold can't be justified right now. I also dont want to remove the
ABS just yet, I know its not a good system, but I dont want to hack the car to pieces...it's a very clean example and
want to keep it that way. Like the VAG guys do OEM+, this is my version of JDM+

if you ge a custom mani made you wont have to remove the abs ive seen a few top mounts with the abs still in. the guys just bring the turbo forward

Come to think about it, I had my abs in with the topmount I build. Just had to move the abs a inch towards the fender.

I didn't need to move mine at all but it was in the way when you had to remove it.

Hmmm, this is some food for thought...thanks guys.

Right now, I still can't justify the cost of a custom manifold just to say that I've got a top mount manifold. The stock
manifold will work and that's good enough for me, plus the turbo I'm fitting is a little on the big side and I think the
stock manifold will help it spool up a little better...this will be a my daily driver again after all.

My mission now is to get it all in and together while keeping it as neat and organized as possible [smilie=200sx_200sx.gif]

Hey Guys,

Wow...I've been really slack with my updates here, but better late than never, I suppose...

I've got some good news and a little bad news...
The good news is that the bigger turbo is in and running. It looked like this after it was fitted with the spacer and gaskets...

If you look closely there's no actuator to operate the wastegate flap. The front housing of my turbo is a 2876r housing so it
doesn't have provisions for a actuator bracket, so I had to make a custom one for the actuator I had (off a T25G i think). Here's
some pics...I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out looking at the pics. I used the bolts that holds the comp housing to the core...

And how the engine bay looks now (had to go back to a cone filter due to space)...

So, onto the bad news...it looks like I won't be able to tune my setup properly with the Piggyback Chip, there's just some
issues that I can't get right. I suspect it's cause I've made quite a lot of big changes for the piggyback to get back into line.
So...the answer will be a custom Eprom chip written by RS Enthalpy. It's currently being shipped to me and should be here
shortly. I'll socket my ECU and run the custom Eprom without any changes from the piggyback.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Hold thumbs please :D

Cheers,
