any nissan connections?

Post by veecee »

hey guys,

just been to nissan eastgate.

looking for diff shims to redo my vlsd.

the guy had the part numbers loaded on his machine, but they couldnt find them on the nissan factory's system. this was after it was established that the factory showed stock on the system.

i need to get hold of these two parts:

38424-40F60
38424-40F67

they are big washers basically.

i was hoping to get them before this weekend, but that seems to be optimistic!!!

can anyone help?

ok

got hold of a decent dealer. McCarthy randburg helped a lot!

basically nissan have deleted the part number from their system because they only keep parts for vehicles 10 years and younger.

this DOESNT mean i cant get it, it means that they have to put in a request to have the part number reopened, then place an order on nissan japan, then hope that japan has stock, then wait for shipping before i can get it.

the dude quoted me a minimum of 3 months wait.

he actually suggested taking it to a diff specialist to have the part manufactured.

i might be able to get some from NZ or OZ, and if i can i will order about 10 pieces.

if i do get, i will help out by selling them on!

Hi VC
sounds like you are having fun,NOT
Nissan SA seems to just not care about their cars and parts supply
Reason I make this point is that as I have told you before I also have an MR2 mk2 and its a 1990 model.
I phone TOYOTA up and 3weeks later my exJapan parts are ready for collection.
I think that is impresive and pricing of part are way cheeper
eg. front windscreen S14 +- R8500-00
front winscreen Mr2 +- R3300-00
big diff. hay

I still love my SX though just dont like Nissan SA
hope you win dude
and where were you last night?

hahaaaa. That is the truth, but what you dont know is that the Nissan factory is situated in a third world country called SA. It will take longer to administrate the stock out of the factory than the ship took from Japan to SA. How do I know that? I am waiting for pistons that did arrive in three weeks time, but still cant get possession of it. It is now 5 weeks and still no news from the Nissan factory about my pistons ordered.

I had the SR20VE piston rings in my hands in less than 4 weeks from the day I spoke to Jabu. In general Nissan service is up to $hit. Big time, but there are one or two individuals who actually care about the customer. If only all nissan staff where like that.

Johan pls pm me those details. Thanks bro.

ummm VeeCee from what I've read the shimming to make the diff lock more isn't really worth it hey...

Maybe consider welding up the diff, there is some guides out there, but it will eat tires like mad.

thanks to everyone for their contribution.

johansx - thanks i will call.
doctorG - i will call you soon.

vlade - i'd rather not weld the diff, and i've read a lot of conflicting information about this little piece of maintenance.

many people say it wears out again within 200km's, and many others are saying that their diff is close to welded, and that its been almost a year and it hasnt changed!

i would like to try it out for myself - doesnt seem like a difficult job!
