Its intended for a 4X4 were u need the low down torque. But if u do a bit of reading on these older VG30E's and u will see that they are smaller, ligter than the DE and with a good port job and cams can flow the same as a DE head. Nissan even ran these blocks and single cam heads in their IMSA racers producing 600-900hp.
But u are right, DE should be much beter in std form.
ofc the vg30e are good motors , never said they are not. the vg30det is however a evolution of the vg30e/et , nissan after all developed this evolution of the vg30 because they needed more power from the vg plain and simple. why mod a vg30e to deliver what a quad cam does standard. we are not talking about motors to drop into a bakkie here, obviously vg30e/et would be best choice there.

I understand your point....but, I do not want to remove the engine when I need the turbo out, or work on the engine, there is loads more space, I did alot of research on this engine and it is going to cost me way less to make power on this engine than with a DET, not that I am out to make 900HP.
With my Z I was able to make 300HP with minimal mods and the standard turbo.....I figure....with proper injectors and turbo I will make close to 400HP without touching the heads or standard internals....spares on engine is cheap and availeble....
lol, i have never had to take the engine out to work on my det in my s13, lots of space. simply turn the boost up on a det or dett, and you will be close to 400hp. but ultimitely your money, your choice eh?

I understand Nico....there is still plenty time to deliberate on this....the ET is just so much simpler......I'll do more research....plan and see what to do from there...

In what cars did the VG30DE/DET come in South Africa...only the Z32?
What is spares like to find....I mean locally.....
