D1 is a measure of "show" drifting, that horsepower is just there to smoke the tires and for effect...
speed drifting is different where it comes down to handling rather than power and you depend on car dynamics and driver skill to get best out of a drift... and its a technique that touqe racers used on down hill, where you don't try and loose your speed and momentum... that is where drifting was born... And that is the type of drifting I'm interested in...

All drifting and straight line if fun, in any set up its fairly easy to do both on a S13/4 unless u run zero rear camber and inset rims for drag which would make it a little hard to drift,
I think the best way to say it is, when u have less power u need more suspension and know how, when u have more power u realy need to know how to drift because you tend to use the power over method which is on of if not the hardest way to drift, esspecialy at speed.
I would feel the best combo for a "person in the street" is about 260-300whp fast spooling motor coupled with some entry level coil overs, the more power the more suspension you need to, unloading your rear suspension when putting big power down then letting off will make for loverly skribbled rims when u hit the pavment.

Agree, anything you do in a SX is funRezlo wrote:All drifting and straight line if fun, in any set up its fairly easy to do both on a S13/4 unless u run zero rear camber and inset rims for drag which would make it a little hard to drift,

I can't really powerover my rears are a bit too fat, if the surface is slippery then it works, otherwise only the inside would spin... I tend to use the e-brake and braking drift to get it going... but it takes a bit of speed, problem is, it's not the safest thing to do on a public road, you need some space... will wait till my car is run in, then practice at the events...

ja sorry - you got me. I've never heard of 'drifting' and have no clue where it started etc etc.
Thanks for your condescending-ness
