Charlvdw....in the end you need to decide what you want to do with the car....keep it simple, if you want to mod extensively rather do a proper aftermarket management, if you just want a avarage upgrade, bit more boost...timing....fuel and so on a chip is the best(as I said before....it increases your boundries of the standard ECU....no complicated stuff...keep it simple).
You can push your standard stuff put at a sertain stage you will pick up problems, decide what you want and work towards that.
Do some research on the newest unichip.....it is a hell of a upgrade from the old one, u can trigger water/meth, different maps(timing/fuel) electroninc boost management all sorts of things.
One thing you must remember, stand alone management systems that work without our sensors are set according to the corrected ambient temp and conditions on the dyna, that is how it stays, on cold days or whatever it can not adjust fuel and timing....it stays as it was set.
Sertain management systems that use our sensors can still udjust itself according to changes that accur and change the map accordingly(correct itself with conditions). This is what chips do...it increases the boundaries, u can upgrade all settings and it corrects itself according to conditions.
Hope it helps.....
