@gary - sounds like you got some great results... please put up some pics..

@ veecee - if you're planning on doing this yourself, and don't want to spend money on a machine etc etc, then the best option available is the "deep crystal" 1,2 and 3. You can get yourself a bottle of "scratch X" for the really bad scratches etc, and if you have money to spend, buy the "quick clay kit". I've found that using the DC1 without doing the clay bit, makes for extremely hard work and you'll end up hating Meguiars.

not sure what the pricing on the Quick clay kit is, but should be around R250 for the smaller kit, I paid R450 for the bigger kit, then there's scratch X which used to be around R60-R80 for a bottle, the DC 1,2 and 3 are about R60-R80 a bottle, then the pads, around R50 each nowadays, or maybe it was R50 for a pack of 2, and then some microfibre cloths, car shampoo, tyre gel - R80, bumper black - around R80 as well... some cleen green will be handy to clean up the mags and stuff...

The other option is the professional range of stuff, that requires a machine to be applied like what we use on the cars we do... but thats expensive if you're planning on buying all the prioducts + the machine etc etc.

do you have premises or do you come to me? cos it would be strange to watch some dude working his ass off on my car for a saturday, while i enjoy my beer in the sun with a spitbraai in the backround

you can come thru to either Robertsham or Lenasia, thats the 2 places we have now, i.e. my place or my friends place

where about are you ?

Its much better if you drop the car off with us, cos its alot easier and convenient... sometimes we've been to places, then there isn't a hose pipe, or we not allowed to use the hose, then there's complaints of noise from the machine, so its just alot less trouble...

btw, what colour is your car ..

VC like 007 said the Deep Crystel System is great, that what I used plus Scratch X.

If your car is discoloured (I mean big areas like the front bumper) then get DC1 (paint cleaner) if it isnt too bad then get Scratch X. Scratch X is a better product I think, it works much better than DC1, but it is one hell of a job to put on and remove where as DC 1 is piss.

Obviously DC2 is needed (Polish), I use the machine to put on and take off really makes the work easy.

Then lastly DC3 (Wax) is used to keep in "the goodness".

I got my stuff directly from Meguires, the DC system was R50 a bottle and Scratch X was R80. Nice thing is the polish will last forever because it goes along way.

The DBN weather did it again and it started raining so no chance of pics yet. I will take some on the weekend when the car is clean again and the weather is hopefully better. I must say with this rain the car actually beally gets wet, the water just runs off the paint and when the car is standing all you see are these huge water dropplets sitting on the paint.

i prefer to try things myself so i reckon i'm definitely gonna give this a bash.

my car is is dark grey metallic sx, actually slightly darker than most because it had an almost full respray recently (not even 2 years ago).

are those AC powered polishing machines that you get at game/dion/makro type stores good enough. i think they're usually about 300 bucks.

also - what can i use to get my interior looking as good as possible again??? my dark grey plastic on my dash above my central vents seems to have some kind of residue from silicone dash spray that i've used in the past!

I have one of those Game jobs and they not that bad, you will still get a better finish by hand. I think you will turn out so nice results on a grey car.

For the interior I used Dash (I think Wynn make it). If you have old residue on the dash and other plastic bits you could use petrol to remove it. This is risky but it work, just make 100% sure that you use Dask or some other product afterwards to prevent the dash form getting too dry and cracking.

i know the cloths and things you use to apply the products to the paint are important.

any recommendations for those??? are they also meguiars products?

I used the machine to apply and remove the polish and wax. When I used the scratch X I just used a clean rag, worked wonders for me.

howsit guys...

personally, I hate those polishers, and the sheep skin on there creates alot more swirls than anything else... your car will still shine, but the swirls, thats something I couldn't handle...

buy some meguiars pads to put on the products, and you can use some microfibre cloths to remove the products.. the microfibre is good for removing the products and doesn't leave any scratches... one thing to remember, one panel at a time, except when it comes to waxing, otherwise, I promise you, you'll hate meguiars...

I found the same thing, divide the panel up into sections like the door into 3 sections about the hip line, below the hip line and below the stripe.
