**** Update ****

I can’t seem to balance the books so I am going to have to drop the “conrods” from the build.

I was able to source a set of Aries Pistons for the Ca18det for a good price. Thank you to all involved, you know who you are.

It’s going to cost me R 3000 for the engineering alone.
The company will be assembling the block.

I will be doing the head and all other goodies…
Started heat-wrapping the manifold and down-pipe, using the wrap recommended by Johan200sx

So much to do

Mother-F*ckers

I get sick when people do this.
I really appreciate the people helping me find this set of pistons
But I asked the guys if this was a set of ca18det pistons and was told 'yes'

But Guess what ...

Damn Honda pistons

--------------------------------------------------------

Will they work, 'Yes' but they will need to be machined for the oil squirter's
And thats the last thing I care to do...

Veecee... I'm up for the deal...

well i mean about the deal, not about the morons supplying the wrong parts!!! thats a bummer man.

i dont even think my honda pistons were like that!!! i dont think they had to be machined for hte oil squirters!!!

Thats why I didn't go with Arias, last thing I wanted to do is machine my new forged pistons.

Sorry to see that dude...

hmmmm...

now i cant remember what i told my engineer to do about that!!!

cos my engine was balanced before assembly, and i bet after balancing the turds had to machine my pistons to prevent piston skirt/oil squirt interface!!!

well its running ok now, so i'll leave it alone!

Geez, I'm amazed how similar those pistons are. Some Nissan dude has been sleeping in a Honda bed :P

Whats the deal??

Do you guys think there is something more than just pistons that make these motor the same?? Like maybe it is a Honda CA18DET and not a Nissan?? I know it happens quite a bit in the industry...

The Valve relives are a bit to excessive (Good for un-shrouding valves if they where in the right place)

They are slightly off when comparing to the stock piston ( I know not that accurate)

The Pistons are very similar, the height from pin to deck is the same but I will need to machine to get the oil squinter to clear.

Well let me phone the guy to see if I can take these back

try Wossner there are plenty of local dealers (because of VW parts they supply) and you can get pistons off the shelf, rather than a custom order

hey gary!!! you are one inquisitive oke hey!!!

lol - dont worry about it. we're swopping some parts!

and i do think the honda engine is branded similarly to the nissan one. i'm not 100% sure, but honda have B, C, D, and F etc blocks. and they number them according to the displacement. so you get a honda B18b block for instance, therefore it could well be that there is a C18 honda block!

Well, Nissan did buy permission to use the Vtec system "or a clone of it" on the VE's maybe Nissan is copying Honda :P

Why dont you just get the stock pistons ceramic coated?? You arent going to be running 1.5bar or anything. If my stock pistons are coping with 1Bar and 200RwKw I am sure that ceramic coated one will cope with even more.

Haha, Ja I am, I need to everything about everything...

I think Nissan and Honda must have some sort of agreement... I wonder what other parts will fit the CA???
