Hey guys, the car is making good progress and we have reached the part were we fit the parts. The car is taking shape. It will be in file shop now to make sure the panel have no dents or waves. It will done to classic car standards.

No the rims were damaged in the crash so I will buy a set when the car is ready. I paid 10 without engine and box

That is a good price, that interior is worth like R6000 let alone the 2 way diff.

and the suspension. The brakes were upgraded and the car has a lot small things done that I wont have to do. It would of not been worth it for someone without a panel shop. We priced the build at 80 to 85 grand if done as a normal job.

interesting? 80 grand
i dont mean to be argumentative, BUT...
i did something similar to mine (granted it didnt need so much pulling to get it straight) and it cost me 4200 for a brand new off the shelf front valance, and a brand new off the shelf wheel well suspension tower thingy.
the front and rear ends of the car were also resprayed and the panelbeaters charged me 4 grand in cash.
so it was just over 8 grand in total.

thats mild damage. When this car hit it damaged the front, it also tore half the car away from the left chassis leg and the left front wheel went through the floor and ripped it apart. The side was hit so hard that the floor board looked like a off road track. The rear panel was also damaged. We just repaired a Volvo that only had panel damage, and one part of the suspension and the job was approved at R120,000. It's all relative though, a smash can look the same but it just matters how the damage has effected the structure of the car. We did the quotation so that I can keep a seperate costing to see just how much I can save (will share that at the end). The drivers side was also damaged so the car needs to be resprayed.

Even if the quote was R85k to make it feesable for you to do it the cost of labour must of been huge. And by what I have seen it has taken a little over a week so far.
To be feesable you should be able to fix it for about R10k. R10k for the car, R10k for repairs, R10k for motor. Thats already R40k, you could by a decent sx for this price.

I could get a stock SX for R40 but I don't want that. This car has a lot of things done that will cost me around R30K if I had to do them from scratch. The project has moved fast but we have been working till 11pm almost every night. I have 30 staff so there is not one person working on it. as I said I will let everyone know the cost of the build at the end. I think you will be surprised. When you are in the industry you know which direction to go for advice, parts and labour. I also have sponsorship for the car from business partners and my suppliers.

When you are in the industry you know which direction to go for advice, parts and labour.
I am in the industry... beside that is the benefit to you as you can quote cheaper. I just think that quote was a bit high thats all.
I know the car very well, I wanted to buy it from Mike. Yes it has alot of goodies in it, but nothing major besides from the diff and interior. The CA18 had some nice toys but again nothing to great.
