in fact i would recommend replacing it with steel braided hose anyway!!!
and who is quoting you for a CAST IRON manifold, what does it look like, and what does it cost, and who made it!???!
i was considering the braided hose idea a while ago, but had forgotten about it along the way. maybe it will be a good idea to do it now. i spoke to the guys from 'turbo and nos'. i dont know what it looks like but he has worked on ca18dets so i was just taking it like that. i dont really know whats a better design or anything.
also i detached my oil drain and turned the engine with the plug from the crank angle sensor unplugged. the oil did run through quite a bit, but maybe not enough. it only came out after a couple of turns. so that might be where the problem is.
thanks[/quote]

so after a year and a half of battling with my turbo blowing all the time, we found out the actuator on the turbo was not opening enough to regulate the boost required, but instead over boosting big time. when i took the turbo in for a recon the second time i took the actuator in with it. i was told it had been tested and was fine. there after i blew it twice more. but its a great relief to know we found the problem

im still thinking of doing the manifold and turbo. might consider it at the end of the month. the car is okay it only boosts 0.5 till about 5500rpm and then slacks off. but the turbos shaft is loose because of the over boosting, but its still drivable. thats why ill consider the change over. hopefully everything will keep in one piece. ill post on the manifold and turbo when its done.
