I agree totaly. My 2 DLS mids in the doors, sounds much better than a Golf with 4 x 550w 6x9`s.

DlS is quality and you will never have to replace them. I`m impressed with the sound quality.

That is why the orange corrugated carpet latex based underfelt comes in handy.

Hey Nate, well here is what I would do......

Door speaker slots not really fit 6.5" so rather go 5 1/4 or 5.5" splits, otherwise u will have to mod somthing on the door.

1. 5 1/4" Pioneer Splits 60 to 70watt rms in front doors
2. Pioneer or Sony head unit with 3 rca out in dash
3. 6 1/2" Pioneer Splits 50 to 60watt rms in the back board
4. Audiobank 3 way active X-over anywhere it fits
5. 1000watt Audiobank 4ch amp to run the splits
6. 2000 or 2500watt Audiobank 2 channel amp to run the subs
7. 2 X Pioneer 10" 1000watt 2ohm DVC subs
8. Duel 35L sealed sub box. For the subs.

Will all fit without looking like you have modified any pannels

Brax Helix Blue52 and 62 series splits also sound friggin awsome .....

As for quality, with the above splits and head units, it's all upto settup.

I know alphine is good, to me personally, clarion is the way to go, when I had my station wagon, with the sound I built all the head units I tested bounced a cd when the bass hit, I was with Rockfort Fosgate to see whether they did not have something....and they told me to go for clarion...

I went to my lanis in downtown and paid R7500 for the top of the range clarion then +- 7 years back(DXZ958RMC-http://www.carpages.co.uk/news/clarion-13-10-05.asp), since then, never bounced, has on baord par eq, sub sonic filter, rca channels for sub, all different channels gain be set different "gains", on board HD, 4.5V RCa out....you name it it's there....the only head unit that never bounced when the bass hit.....since I had it in my new sx which drives super hard....no bounce....

The specs on this unit is endless

High end Clarion is also good, and so is the top dollar Pioneers

I have the Clarion HX-D2, kicks F1 Status but. hehe

Can't really commend on the cd bounce thing, as my ESB Ottomila subs have a max excursion of 22mm.

But the 9887 Alpine deck has is value for money and does not break the bank like the rest of the good decks.

Hotstuff, are you looking at accurate sound reproduction, or a pavement pounder?

What kind of music do you listen to?

My taste in music varies depending on my mood...

I'd rather go for a quality sound install... If I wanted a pavement pounder I'd just ask the next minibus taxi that passes me where he did his install...lol

The main aim is to have it looking as if nothing has been changed except for the headunit, which I already done.

Thanks to everyone for you input, comments and ideas... Much appreciated!!!!

My Clarion started skipping after a year and a half, that is irelivant today though as most people run mp3, Even so, headunits with a pre-buffer (the larger the better, 8seconds or more) are available today in all makes and that is exactly the only thing that can truly stop skipping.

I do though think HS is looking more at doing best quality and bung he can get for as little as possible, thus as much as clarion, alpine and Rockford are nice, they are out most people's brackets.

P.S. Rockford headunits are cr4p, have in my work bakkie and it does not work after 1 year (skipping and not reading disks) year 2 the screen bombed out....
