Yeah its possible. Cos if theres oil on the flywheel, the clutch wont be able to get enough friction to grip the flywheel properley. So the clutch plate would just kind of "skid" or "skim" the flywheel giving a shudder effect until it can grip properley.

Yip oil leaking into a clutch assembly. Theres also a seal on the flywheel side of the block. So if thats leaking, runs into the bellhousing, etc, etc.
