Any body see the latest Tourque magazine. Small 1 page article on import engines and Part one of 200sx build up also, reason I bought it, any way back to engine article..... Seems 90% usually are rubish, might explain a few things. They gave some tips on what to look out for when buying a import engine, some real shocking info also on they way engines are treated in Japan. This might not be true but it makes sense when I look at my CA and I assume in S14RB25's RB25's case

I thinks Toby still has his original engine though, so Tuner might be to blame ?

Just a thought.

I am sure I saw CA18s at around R6500 complete with accesories at Boston Jap Tech and Japan Auto trading not so long ago. If you know what to look for iro wear, you can buy a complete engine and do a simple swap. Saturday job if you have done it before... and have a complete engine as spares. My 2c worth.

Personally Dont take this the wrong way.

Its time to work on that CA18det yourself. R16000 is silly money I havent event spent that much on my set-up and I have had the head off twice ,bought an lager turbo... ect.

Its not rocket science

johansx - that's exactly what I was thinking - the main reason for getting a second engine is to have spare parts! Infact I'd probably keep this engine and use the second one for parts. Then I wouldn't have to re-register the car, etc.

Phinx - yes, I came to the same conclusion that I need to work on teh car myself, so bought lots of tools, etc. BUT, I'm no mechanic, and the most I can do is replace injectors. I can't even imagine taking off the head, etc. without help.

I know a lot of you guys have tools and knowledge and stuff, can't I pay one of you to fix it for me? :D :D :D

Toby glad to see your spirit is up again, I think you are on the right raod to recovery, emgine being able to fix an engin and stuff yourself, if we could get some help here and there we never need to pay anyone anymore to do something for us.....pure bliss :D

DONT be silly, rather than buying a 2nd hand motor which you dont know what condition its in, do what VLADE is doing. Spend the extra R3000 and get a real strong motor. Rather re-do yours and then you know where you stand with it.

R3000, I think vlade is spending alot more than that though.

R3000 on top of buying a 2nd hand motor, will see you at about R10 000.

Well its something Im planning on doing aswell. Buying SR20, have it fully checked out and rebuilt and then dropping it in. So hopefully that would get rid of me having to spend a few grand every month or so on my car.

Im not sure why you guy are always spending money on your sx'x, mine doesnt cost me a cent beside the mods that I am busy with and the servicing every 3500Km. Maybe I am just lucky  ?!

suppose yours was looked after. If the previous owner fixed the bloody Injectors when the started leaking I wouldnt have had the problem of detonation wich fucked up my engine

You should of listened for pinging :P , nawty nawty  . If you service your car every 3500Km, you can pick up those kind of problems as soon as they arise or VERY soon after.
